Drying

For further processing, mechanical dryers reduce the residual moisture of the recycled plastics.

Mechanical dryer

Perfectly prepared.

Before further processing, mechanical dryers minimise the residual moisture of the prepared plastics.

These machines operate at a much higher peripheral speed than friction separators, for example. The rotor accelerates the fed material to an extreme level so that the water particles and residual material can be separated out by the screens. In other machines, the material conveyance by the blades mounted at an angle on the rotor is insufficient to transport the material to the product discharge. Therefore, they also use external fans or a fan propeller mounted on the rotor to increase the conveying effect. However, this air flow also causes water and dirt particles to be discharged with the product. Our machines utilise a newly developed, patented and now proven technology to counteract this problem and improve drying and cleaning. All rotor blades are mounted straight, without an angle of attack. The rotor only accelerates the particles. The screen basket surrounding the rotor is expanded by a segment in which inclined sickles are installed to ensure material conveyance. This results in a significantly longer rotor length and therefore a longer dwell time of the product in the machine. The residual moisture is thus considerably reduced. The wear on the rotor blades and screen segments is also significantly reduced due to the improved conveyance in the machine.

A rotary valve is fitted to the product discharge to ensure pressure-free material discharge. If a transport fan is used, it cannot draw air (or any product with water and dirt) out of the machine, and the material remains in the machine longer.

In existing machines, either water is used to clean the outside of the screen basket and the inside of the housing, or a cleaning device is used that slowly circles the screen basket. The bearings used in this process are difficult to seal due to the water, dirt and air pressure in the machine. If this bearing fails, the entire machine has to be dismantled, resulting in downtime. In our mechanical dryers, a patented cleaning device runs slowly from the inlet side to the outlet side and back again. This cleans the outside of the screen and the inside of the housing. The tappet can be replaced in a matter of minutes without great effort.

Our machine is also particularly notable for the fact that the rotor blades can be easily replaced. Whereas with other machines the cover, the screen scrapers and then the screen basket or segments of the screen need to be removed first, with our machine the complete rotor chamber with blades is accessible after opening the attached bonnet.

The machine is driven by a three-phase motor and V-belt drive, with bearings in robust, durable spherical roller bearings.
