Separating

During the further processing of plastics, the different types of plastic must be separated. This separation is achieved by their specific density. Separation containers or hydrocyclones are used for separation.

In separation tanks, the particles are separated in a water bath. Particles with a higher specific weight sink and are separated out. The significantly lower installed capacity offers a major advantage, but the system requires more space due to its size.

In hydrocyclones, the particles are mixed with water and fed into the cyclone under pressure. The particles with a higher specific weight are discharged at the underflow. The space-saving arrangement offers a major advantage, but significantly higher installed capacities are required for the mixing tank with agitator, pump and water separation. Foam development can also be problematic here, which leads to different pressure ratios.

A clean input material is always a prerequisite for good separation!
